Proportion and translucency. Teeth should vary subtly in length, the smile line should follow the curve of the lower lip, and the porcelain needs translucency at the edges. That is design work, and it is why we do a trial smile before preparing anything.
It starts with a comprehensive exam with one of our Tyler doctors. We look at your teeth, discuss what you want to change, photograph your smile, and talk through whether veneers, bonding, whitening, or orthodontics best achieves it. You get the plan and the cost in writing.
Preparation is done under local anesthetic and most patients report little discomfort. Teeth can be sensitive for a short period between preparation and final placement, which we manage with temporaries.
They can mask mild crowding and rotations convincingly. Significant misalignment is usually better treated with orthodontics first, because forcing veneers onto badly positioned teeth means removing far more enamel than is wise.
Porcelain itself resists staining very well. The bonding margins can pick up stain over many years, particularly with heavy coffee or tobacco use, and regular cleanings keep that in check.
