What Is a Root Canal?
A root canal is an endodontic procedure that removes infected or damaged pulp from inside the tooth, preventing further infection and saving the natural tooth.
✔ Step 1:Numbing the Area – We apply a local anesthetic to ensure a pain-free experience.
✔ Step 2: Access Infection – A small opening is made in the tooth to access and remove the infected pulp.
✔ Step 3: Prep Tooth For Crown – The root canal is cleaned, disinfected, and sealed with gutta-percha, a rubber-like material.
✔ Step 4: Secure Dental Crown – A dental crown may be placed to restore strength and function to the tooth.
With modern technology and sedation options, a root canal is now as comfortable as getting a filling and can often be completed in one or two visits.

Start My Tyler Smile AssessmentFrequently Asked Questions About Root Canals
Is a root canal painful?
No! Root canals are performed under local anesthesia, making the procedure virtually painless. Many patients feel instant relief from tooth pain after treatment.
How long does a root canal take?
Most root canals can be completed in one or two visits, with each session lasting about 60–90 minutes.
Do I need a crown after a root canal?
In most cases, yes. A crown strengthens and protects the tooth after treatment, preventing fractures or further damage.
Can an infected tooth heal on its own?
No. Once the pulp is infected, it won’t heal without treatment. Delaying care can cause worsening pain, abscesses, and even tooth loss.
Do you offer sedation for root canals?
Yes! If you’re feeling anxious, we offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and IV Sedation to ensure a calm, stress-free experience.
