Crowns do not last forever. Most hold up fifteen to twenty years, and then the margins begin to leak, decay gets underneath, or the porcelain chips. A good share of what we do for Marshall patients is assessing crowns from that era: whether the tooth underneath is still solid, whether a replacement crown is enough, and whether the original tooth is worth keeping at all.
