About Crowns and Bridges for Chandler Patients
There is a real hierarchy in restorative dentistry, and it runs from least invasive to most. A filling replaces what decay took. An onlay covers part of the chewing surface when a cusp is compromised. A crown covers the whole tooth. Each step removes more healthy structure than the one before it, which is why we do not treat a crown as the automatic answer to a damaged tooth.
That said, there are clear cases where full coverage is right: a tooth with a visible crack, a tooth where the old filling is wider than the remaining walls, or a back tooth that has had a root canal. In those situations anything less tends to end in a fracture that costs the whole tooth. For Chandler patients this work happens at our Tyler office on Rice Road, about 15 minutes east on Highway 31, with the lab in Suite 100.
When a tooth has already been lost, the conversation shifts to bridges and implants. A bridge is faster and avoids surgery, but it requires preparing the teeth on both sides of the gap. An implant does not touch them. We go through both routes with costs in writing, and if the neighboring teeth are healthy we will usually say so plainly.
